Life sign

Well, wasn't it ever a bright day when I took these! :)

It's been one gorgeous summmer, eventhough it looks like autumn came early. Really I can't complain. It's been hot and sunny all the way from May to the end of July. An all around atypical English summer ;)

Now it's starting to get cooler and stormier I am starting to think about projects for autumn and winter. I think I might just try out quiliting. I have always loved patchwork quilts. I got my first one for my 16th birthday and have bought two more since. I think it's just as well my fourth should be home-made :) Or so I hope anyway.

In case I don't write again until September: Have a fantastic August!

What I wore

I finally got myself a rain cover for my bike saddle! Purple. Panda. Perfection ;)

So. This is what I wore today :)

Yesterday I baked some Linzer cake for the first time in AGES. And when I say "some" I sure mean "lots". I use an old recipe and never can get myself to adjust the amounts to bake just the one cake. With a recipe that calls for half a kilo of butter, no wonder I ended up with 4 cakes in my freezer and another two ready to munch away on :) Baking in bulk is pretty neat though.

Tomorrow I think I am going to sew on a brand new & first patch I got for my denim jacket. Excitement ensues :)

Hope you are all having a very happy summer!
See you soon :)

A field in Pilton

We spent a week camping in a field (again). ;)

Just like last year the husband and I were volunteering at the free property lock-ups. That meant we were "just" camping for a little while before the hordes arrived.

This time I didn't drag my big old DSLR along with me though. Instead I carried only my mobile phone which I referred to as my camera throughout, much to my husband's amusement.

The festival post office is great fun. You can stamp the post mark yourself (if that doesn't seem exciting you're clearly not as easily pleased as me :P)

Couldn't resist another shot of the infamous long drops.. looking all pristine before the gates open.

The Pyramid stage on Tuesday before.

Front desk at Pedestrian Gate A luggage lock-up

The first few days had been so steaming hot under rentless blue skies, when the downpours started on Friday I was over the moon. Lucky me, I never got caught in it. The rain would stop as abruptly as it'd started but those black clouds gave us enough advance warning so we never got caught in it.
I guess I am bragging now hehe

"Who did you see?" is a hard question.
Mostly because I could hear the Other stage well from camp and even when I did make my way into the crush of the bigger stages, I rarely venture deep enough to actually "see" much.

I did hear an awful lot though. (Four Tet, the 1975s and Bombay Bicycle Club for instance).

I skipped down to the Other stage when I caught my favourite Band of Skulls tune on the breeze.
Once the sound system powers up for the first time it never really gets quiet again :)

I missed out on the Black Keys being as I was on shift while those guys were on stage. Meh. Mind you, I wouldn't have wanted to miss working the lock-up for the world either. It reminds me so much of my time at the youth hostel - no wonder really - as soon as I am working with some of the same people who were my colleagues then too. :)

As much as I love that festival and want to go again,
one thing that leaves me flabbergasted every year is the mountain of rubbish and camping equipment left behind. The picture below was taken on Tuesday morning after the festival. Everybody camping on the field below had left by then. Mind boggling, no?

How about you?
Got any camping or musical excursions planned for this summer?

Shall I compare thee to.. linen

Short of declaring 2014 the year of few and far between blog posts, I might as well dub it the year of wearing linen.

I always do my best to steer clear of man-made fabrics (ugh.. that shrinkwrap feeling). Mind you, good intentions aside, when your heart is set on a pretty dress it can be hard to think practical when you find the fabric is made from plastic. But in the end no manner of gorgeousness can make that sticky unpleasantness up to me. And hell, you guys, I live in England. It doesn't even get remotely hot over here and still it's too hot for poly-shrinkwrap dresses! But then, what's the surprise, I am of the comfy shoe persuasion too: Suffering for fashion sure as shinola is not my style.

As you can see I've avoided the polyester trap just lately. There are still quite a few specimens in my wardrobe, but at least I haven't been adding any new ones this year.

Linen is pretty cool, though far too cool for winter. You might as well go out into a snow storm in the nude. ;)

Have a fantastic day!

..and the livin' is easy

Nothing like a bit of sunshine to cheer me up :)
Long time no see. Hope you all are doing good!

The countdown to Glastonbury Festival has started in earnest. I've got my revised list of things to bring ready and waiting. It takes a lot of resolve to stop myself from packing already!

Meanwhile I am still infatuated with linen dresses. But I have a couple of awesome dirndls to show you too. If the sun doesn't play hooky, I'll be back with those soon :)

Have a most excellent weekend!

This haze aint mental

Well, it's been pretty hazy and grey these past couple of days but I figured you guys wouldn't mind some hazy shots instead of sunshine galore for a change, huh? Thank goodness it is just the weather that's feeling a bit obscure right now (forgive me, I looked up synonyms and "mental haze" came up.. yes.. I admit my jokes are getting more drab by the day)  ;)

So.. this is what I wore.. yesterday. Looks like I am racking up a slight "outfit time lag" once again ;)

I am back at work today after a four day Easter break. It was the weekend that kept right on giving! It's been a really pleasant break :)

Hope you guys had a nice (long) weekend too!

Of course they're made for walking. Duh!

You know how it is when you wrack your brain for a neat-o title for your latest "this is what I wore today" post.  Of course every cliche wordplay and song reference ends up stuck on repeat in your mind. Leaving no space at all for alternative options. So what is a girl to do? Pick a cliched title of course! You're welcome.

Check out this awesome necklace! You could use it as a weapon it's so chunky (not that I condone jewellery-based weaponry. Peace out!)

Anyway.. before the above train of thought derailed I was going to tell you about this necklace: It's been hanging on my mirror for about two years now but I could never think of an outfit it would really go with. I guess a lot of the stuff I wear is just so loud all by itself the necklace always seemed one accessory too far.

Cue this little dress :) At last a perfect match! I just love seeing the lush green and the bright orange of the necklace together.

These are the boots my parents gave me :)
Thank you oh awesome parents! You rule. As do these boots. Obviously they are most excellent.

And talking about "most excellent": I wish you all a most excellent (ha ha.. yes..) Easter weekend!

Calm Stef is calm

This dress is still relatively new and totally-brand-spanking NEW! to this blog ;)
I got it just before we went to Goa last December and had a good giggle every time I spotted a table cloth in the same colour and pattern (yes, there were plenty).

Usually I go for fitted waists, but occasionally ridiculously loose fitting garments are just the ticket. And brown. Brown just feels right on calm to me.

And then of course there are my cheap and cheerful cowboy boots. Since I bought my first "proper" pair some years ago I have turned into a right sucker for cowboy boots. In fact my parents are treating me to a gob-smackingly beautiful pair for Easter (currently in a mail bag somewhere between the U.S. of A. and the not-so-stiff-upper-lipped island I call home).

Well, that's all from me today :)

Do you wear certain colours to invoke a mood? Like my calming chequered brown (and orange, I am completely ignoring the orange!)?

Told you I'd be back ;)

Told ya.

Well.. it took me a good long while to get back to blogging, but I think.. I am pretty sure: I am back at last.
It's been nice to concentrate on other things for a while. I've been reading, drawing and well,.. lazing.
Here is what I wore today. What I am still wearing (no nudity here).

You should see my spam box. I've never had as many comments as the moment I stopped posting! I guess if nothing else it served to remind me that this blog of mine was collecting dust.
Time for a spring clean I guess? ;)

Hope life has been treating you well while I've been gone.
What did you get up to this winter?
